In the transracial adoption world I'm finding myself more and more immersed in, there's a big controversy about a Habro doll called Upsy-Daisy. England has a show called "In the Night Garden" that's very popular there, and here in the states, with the infant crowd. It's similiar to Teletubbies.

The In the Night Garden character Upsy-Daisy is black.

Hasbro just put out a line of merchandise from dolls to lunchboxes from In the Night Garden...but they made Upsy-Daisy white.

Ummm.....really? Seriously? How racist can you be? You can read more about it in this woman's blog.

Aside from that...watch the clip from In the Night Garden.

Go ahead.

Watch it.

Just make sure you are not on any cold meds or have just woken up 'cause that's some freaky stuff right ther. My thoughts: 1. What's with the farting noise at the beginning? 2. Those huge shapes...uh...blobs....uh...psychedelic blow up doll things just scare me. Something in their eyes. And the way they are skulking behing that carousel thing. Watching. Waiting for their chance to....oh never mind. 3. The little squeaking people things on the pole or whatever it is...what the heck? I don't even know what to say about that. 4. If this is what entertains children, what their minds really like then I may need to rethink parenthood. Or get myself some darn good Valium before I sit through that with my kid. 5. I warned you before you watched it! Don't blame me if those blobby things with the spooky dead meth addicted eyes show up in your nightmares. 6. Upsy-Daisy rocks. Too bad Hasbro had to go and white her up.

And that's why we'll watch Veggie Tales!

I clicked over to her blog and saw the merchandise. I can't believe they did that. They must be getting a lot of complaints on this one.
